I can’t believe it’s been almost a week since I posted here. Time flies at Dreamweaver Farms.
The puppies are growing and growing so big. Our first adopter, Heather from Spartanburg, will be picking up little Janie (to be named Alta). Heather is a first time pet owner, a single professional with a beautiful home with lots of hardwood and tile floors – just right for a growing puppy.
Tomorrow the Williamson family from Matthews NC will be coming in for a meet/greet. They still have to pass their home visit but I am confident that will happen. If they are happy with what they see, they will be taking a puppy home two weeks from tomorrow.
Other than those two, I don’t know of any others that are anywhere near close to be finished and ready to adopt. (The Kerl family has decided to wait for a dog that they know is guaranteed to be a doodle because of allergies.) This worries me. We have 12 beautiful bundles of fluff just waiting for their new homes. Ashley and I will be getting new photos this weekend and putting up individual pictures to pique more interest. They are wonderful puppies and all deserve wonderful homes.
I’m up late tonight waiting for our own Deb Poston to arrive with more space heaters, donated by adopter and volunteer Katie Austin and her mother. Deb was due to meet the Austin’s in Greensboro at about 6, bringing them their new boy Scooter, but traffic delays kept them tied up in Charlotte and they didn’t arrive in Greensboro until after 9! That they’re still coming here is amazing but Deb wouldn’t take “go home” for an answer from me. That’s dedication.
We’ve really had challenges this week with the heat but between the space heaters donated, and the insulation Wayne put up (more on that in a minute), I think we’ll be okay until the heating system is in.
Have I told you guys recently how wonderful my husband is? Wayne spent most every night this week up on a ladder patching the insulation that had fallen down inside the kennel. It is like putting a cozy blanket over the pups. The difference was immediate. Special thanks to hubby for all his uncomplaining hard work and assistance in what we do.
Deb and Chris have just come and gone and we have four more space heaters and a ton of newspapers and plastic bags. We also updated the available dog list and Chris played with two of the labradoodle puppies who are overnighting here at the house. Special thanks to Debbie and Chris for going out of their way!
And on that note, it’s way past my bedtime. Goodnight from Dreamweaver Farms
Donna
